New England Newspapers Publisher Steps Down

The CEO and publisher of New England Newspapers, which includes The Berkshire Eagle and three Vermont publications, has resigned. The decision comes about two months after area investors bought the company.Ed Woods is stepping down after more than a decade with New England Newspapers to pursue other opportunities, according to The Berkshire Eagle. Hans Morris, board chair of the company, called the move a friendly separation.

Former Berkshire Eagle publisher Martin Langeveld is acting publisher while a nationwide search for a permanent replacement is conducted. Langeveld advised Morris and three other investors with local ties during their May acquisition of New England Newspapers and is on the board of directors.
