The former president of Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts is being officially installed as chancellor of University of North Carolina at Asheville this week.Mary Grant led MCLA for 12 years before leaving to become UNC at Asheville’s seventh chancellor in January. Grant was MCLA’s 11th president and the first alumna to hold the office having graduated from what was then North Adams State College.

“If you’re going to be leaving something that you love, where you go matters and so this just felt right,” said Grant after announcing her plans in August 2014.

UNC at Asheville has planned a week of events including Grant’s installation ceremony Saturday morning. MCLA expects to appoint a new president in early 2016 after an earlier pick withdrew in March.
