Mass. Siting Board Holding Hearings On Gas Pipeline

A state siting board is a holding a pair of public hearings in western Massachusetts on a proposed natural gas pipeline.The Massachusetts Energy Facilities Siting Board will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Taconic High School in Pittsfield to hear what area residents have to say about the proposed Northeast Energy Direct pipeline. Windsor Selectman Douglas McNally questioned the idea of a compressor station in the rural town at a Federal Energy Regulatory Commission meeting on the project last week.

“We question the placement of a large industrial complex in a community where the next largest business is a general store with one gas pump,” said McNally.

The state siting board is holding another public hearing at Greenfield Community College Wednesday. It starts at 7 p.m.
