Sen. Warren Meets Leaders On Middle East Trip

Massachusetts U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren has met with Israeli and Palestinian leaders during a tour of the Middle East. It's her first official congressional trip overseas since taking office in 2013.Warren's office confirmed the Massachusetts Democrat met with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on Sunday and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel on Monday. Her trip also includes a scheduled meeting with officials of the Jordanian government.

Warren aides say she'll also visit military troops from Massachusetts stationed in the region.

The trip was organized by the State Department and the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs, of which Warren is a member.

She'll also visit with representatives of the United Nations refugee agency, the U.S. Agency for International Development and local nongovernmental organizations.

The senator's office did not say when Warren was planning to return.
