A founding member of Shakespeare & Company says he is leaving the Lenox-based theater group next month.Reached by phone Monday afternoon, Tony Simotes said he is leaving Shakespeare & Company November 10, but could not comment any further.
Simotes helped create the theater group in 1978 before taking over for fellow founding member Tina Packer as artistic director in June 2009. Simotes’ current yearly contract was set to expire at the end of May.
