Gubernatorial Hopeful Coakley Attending Pittsfield Festival

Massachusetts attorney general and Democratic candidate for governor Martha Coakley will be in Pittsfield tomorrow for the city’s street festival.Less than three weeks before state primaries on Sept. 9, Coakley, a North Adams native, will visit downtown Pittsfield for 3rd Thursday. Showcasing the area’s food, culture and arts the street festival is held monthly from May to October.

“I know that the creative economy across the commonwealth is very exciting both for the opportunities it gives for our individuals in Massachusetts [and] it’s also a good economic driver,” said Coakley.

Coakley is being challenged by fellow Democrat and state Treasurer Steve Grossman along with Don Berwick. Republican Charlie Baker, Tea Party candidate Mark Fisher and Independents Jeff McCormick, Evan Falchuk and Scott Lively are also running. The festival starts at 5 p.m. Thursday on North St.
