In the Hudson Valley, voters had their say in a few New York state Senate races.

In the Democratic primary for the 42nd state Senate district, where Republican John Bonancic holds the seat, there were 2,910 write-ins. This after activist Pramilla Malick, who is with Protect Orange County, mounted a write-in campaign, having petitioned the state Board of Elections for the opportunity to ballot. In the 40th state Senate District, Democrat Alison Boak defeated Andrew Falk for the chance to unseat Republican Terrence Murphy in November.
