One of six bridges being replaced in Columbia and Dutchess Counties is open, just in time for the Dutchess County Fair, which started Tuesday.

The Route 199 bridge over the Sawkill Creek in the Dutchess County Town of Milan is open. The bridge, at the junction with Route 308, is part of a larger contract replacing six bridges in Columbia and Dutchess Counties. It is the first to open after being closed in early May for demolition and reconstruction. Construction work is expected to continue on the bridge into the fall, with the potential for alternating traffic or brief stoppages, but a detour is no longer expected.
