The Poughkeepsie-Dutchess County Transportation Council has opened a 30-day public comment period for its draft 25-year transportation plan. Moving Dutchess 2 seeks to identify projects and plans necessary to maintain the transportation system in a state of good repair and meet travel needs through 2040. The plan tries to address varied needs within the county and divides the county into five regions: Upper and Lower Hudson; Upper and Lower Taconic; and Harlem Valley. The plan includes more than 170 recommendations — short, mid and long range — based on input from state and local agencies, an analysis of transportation system data, and feedback from the public. There is a public meeting March 3 and written comments are due by March 17.
