The battle against an invasive pest has been lost in New York's Catskills.

One by one, Ash trees are falling to the emerald ash borer.  According to the Watershed Post, Ulster County and parts of Greene County are heavily impacted -  the bug itself impossible to eradicate. Over the past winter, the New York City DEP cut 4,000 ash trees along Route 28 that showed signs of infestation.
