The Democratic contender in a New York congressional race is opening a field office Saturday in Columbia County.

Sean Eldridge is opening a field office in Hudson on Columbia Street. Other Democrats slated to speak at the opening include Assemblywoman Didi Barrett and two state legislature hopefuls – senate candidate Brian Howard, who covets the seat held by Republican Kathy Marchione, and assembly candidate Phil Malone, in a race for the seat held by Republican Steve McLaughlin. In addition to the Hudson office, Eldridge has field offices in Kingston, in Ulster County, Oneonta, in Otsego County, and Monticello, in Sullivan County. His campaign spokeswoman says there are plans to open an office in Dutchess County. Incumbent Republican Chris Gibson, representing the sprawling 19th district, has campaign headquarters in Kinderhook, in Columbia County, where he resides, and satellite offices in Olive, in Ulster County, and Oneonta.
