As the city of Albany continues to recover from last weekend's "ransomware attack," more damage may have been done than originally reported.
Although Mayor Kathy Sheehan told reporters last week no personal information about city workers or residents was at risk, Vice President of the Albany Police Officers Union Gregory McGee says attack did affect the APD.
McGee says the bank accounts of some employees have been compromised, with withdrawals made in Florida, Illinois and online.
"You know it's too much of a coincidence at this point to say with the city having a ransomware attack, with all the data that's stored at city hall and on our servers that personal information was also breached and these guys are now noticing that their accounts are being substantially drained."
McGee fears the banking data could have placed on the dark web. City officials remain tight-lipped for now.
