NASA's Dr. Walt Meier Discusses A Melting Arctic

After record-breaking heat in the first half of 2016, Arctic sea ice is trending low. For the last three decades, the ice has been disappearing at a dramatic rate. Changes in the Arctic can have global impacts on sea level and climate.

NASA is keeping a close eye on the situation. NASA Research Scientist Dr. Walt Meier spoke to WAMC from NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Maryland and said the Arctic acts as the Earth’s air-conditioning unit.
