Harvard's men's basketball program has established an athletic achievement that ranks up there with some of the school's academic highlights. No. 14 seeded Harvard sprung the upset of the tournament so far dumping third-seed New Mexico 68-62 in the second round. It's the first NCAA tournament win for the Ivy League champs and comes against a team that was expected to advance deep into the tournament.

Syracuse crushed Montana 81-34 in the Orange's most one-sided tournament win since beating Brown 101-52 in 1986.

No. 1 Gonzaga beat Southern 64-58. Arizona outscored Belmont 81-64. Wichita St. beat No. 3 Pittsburgh 73-55. No. 2 Louisville won against NC A&T 79-48. Colorado St. bested Missouri 84-72. No. 5 Butler trumped Bucknell 68-56. Marquette finished ahead of Davidson 59-58. No. 9 Michigan St. topped Valparaiso 65-54. No. 2 Memphis edged ahead of St. Mary’s 54-52. VCU beat Akron 88-42. No. 10 Michigan defeated South Dakota St. 71-56. Saint Louis beat New Mexico St. 64-44. No. 3 Oregon topped Oklahoma St. 68-55 and California bested UNLV 64-61.

The UAlbany Great Danes take on the Duke Blue Devils at 12:15 p.m. in Philadelphia and Iona faces Ohio St. at 7:15 p.m.

Coming up this weekend in the women’s NCAA basketball tournament, on Saturday Syracuse faces Creighton and Marist goes up against Michigan St. On Sunday UAlbany takes on North Carolina.

Finally in the NBA, Denver slid past Philadelphia 101-100. Portland beat Chicago 99-89 and Sacramento defeated Minnesota 101-98. Jimmer Fredette scored four points.
