In the NBA, the Boston Celtics ended the Houston Rockets' 22-game winning streak five years ago, but they couldn't do the same to the Miami Heat's 22-game run last night. Miami defeated Boston 105-103.

The Heat have now won 23 straight games. Lebron James finished with 37 points, 12 assists and seven rebounds.

Elsewhere, New York still leads the Atlantic Division by a game over the Nets after a 90-83 win at Utah. J.R. Smith finished with 20 points. Brooklyn won against Detroit 119-82.  Indiana defeated Cleveland 111-90. Philadelphia beat Portland 101-100. Phoenix edged ahead of the Lakers 99-76. Charlotte bested Washington 119-114. Dallas topped Atlanta 127-113. Denver beat Chicago 119-118 and Golden State beat New Orleans 93-72.

In the NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament, Baylor claimed the first overall seed. UConn, Stanford and Notre Dame also claimed No. 1 seeds.

In the Oklahoma City Region, No. 7 Syracuse faces No. 10 Creighton on Saturday.  

In the Bridgeport region, No. 12 Marist faces No. 5 Michigan St. Saturday and No. 14 UAlbany takes on No. 3 North Carolina on Sunday.

Checking the NHL, the NY Rangers defeated Carolina 2-1. Tampa Bay doubled up Philadelphia 4-2. Los Angeles shut out Phoenix 4-0. Dallas edged ahead of Calgary 4-3. Chicago beat Colorado 5-2 and Minnesota topped Vancouver 3-1.

Finally, the Dominican Republic has advanced to the championship of the World Baseball Classic with a 4-1 win over the Netherlands. The Dominicans take on Puerto Rico for the title today.
