In the NBA, the Knicks defeated Golden state last night at Madison Square Garden 109-105. Warriors Guard Stephan Curry set an NBA season high with 54 points and fell one shy of the league mark of 12 three-pointers.  J.R. Smith finished with 26 points. Carmelo Anthony scored a team-high 35 points.

Elsewhere, Sacramento beat Orlando 125-101. Jimmer Fredette scored 13 points. Cleveland topped Toronto 103-92. Detroit edged ahead of Washington 96-95. Memphis overcame Dallas 90-84. Milwaukee bested Houston 110-107. Oklahoma City beat New Orleans 119-74. Phoenix beat San Antonio in overtime 105-101. Atlanta defeated Utah 102-91 and Denver edged ahead of Portland 111-109.

Checking the NHL, Montreal beat Toronto 5-2. Philadelphia beat Washington 4-1 and Los Angeles topped Detroit 2-1.

In top 25 college basketball, Penn St. defeated fourth-ranked Michigan 84-78. Fifth-ranked Miami overcame Virginia Tech 76-58. Seventh-ranked Georgetown barely slid past UConn 79-78. 10th ranked Louisville beat DePaul 79-58 and 15th ranked Oklahoma St. defeated TCU 64-47.

No. 2 Gonzaga faces Brigham Young tonight. UAlbany takes on New Hampshire and Vermont goes up against Binghamton.

In baseball spring training action, Baltimore defeated the Yankees 10-7. St. Louis beat the Mets 12-4. San Francisco tied the Angels 8-8 and Baltimore beat Boston 5-3.

Finally, soccer's international governing body has banned 74 more officials and players from world soccer for helping fix matches.
