On Thursday evening a senior living apartment building in Plattsburgh was quarantined after several residents tested positive for the COVID-19 virus.
The Clinton County Health Department locked down the Russell Barnard senior living facility at 46 Flynn Avenue in Plattsburgh after 5 of the 69 residents tested positive for COVID-19. Health Department Director of Health Care Services Erin Streiff says the department does not know how the residents became infected.  “At this time the patients are stable as far as we are aware and they’ll be cared for medically.”

Mayor Colin Read said this is the first COVID-19 outbreak in a senior living facility in northern New York. Republican Congresswoman Elise Stefanik praised the local health department for immediately releasing information about the quarantine.
