An award-winning, longtime newspaper reporter in New York’s North Country announced his retirement during Plattsburgh’s Common Council meeting Thursday night.
Joe LoTemplio’s byline has appeared in the Plattsburgh Press Republican since 1985.  He has won numerous awards for his coverage of the closure of the Plattsburgh Air Force Base, the Dannemora prison escape and regional politics.

At the end Thursday’s Common Council meeting, LoTemplio announced his retirement and received a standing ovation for his work.  “After 33 years at the press Republican I am leaving. This is my last council meeting. So I wanted to say thank you for all your help over the years.”

LoTemplio’s retirement became effective Friday.
