The New York Department of Health has confirmed that mosquitos collected at three sites in Clinton County have tested positive for West Nile Virus.
Seven locations are monitored in Clinton County where mosquitos are trapped, identified and tested.  Specimens collected from 3 of 7 pools in early August tested positive for West Nile Virus.

The three traps are located adjacent to the Plattsburgh Chamber of Commerce Building, along River Road in Morrisonville and along Recore Road in the Town of Chazy.

About 20% of people infected with West Nile Virus develop mild symptoms and about one in every 150 people infected develop a severe illness.
