Border Officials Advise Some Travelers To Divert From Rouses Point Crossing

Officials at one northern New York border crossing are advising commercial travelers and people in oversized vehicles to divert to an alternate crossing.

Beginning June 6th construction at the U.S. Customs and Border facility at the Rouses Point border crossing will require commercial and oversized vehicles, including vehicles towing a boat or trailer, to use an alternate crossing.   

Commercial drivers should enter the U.S. at the Champlain port of entry to the west. 

Oversized vehicles and those towing something should use Overton Corners or the Champlain ports of entry.  Overton Corners is a mile and a half from Rouses Point and is the closest alternative. 

The temporary diversion is expected to last about two weeks.
