The North Country’s long-serving assemblywoman announced this morning that she will not seek reelection.

115th District Republican Janet Duprey has represented the North Country for 10 years in Albany.  She told family and press on Thursday morning she has decided it is the right time to end her 41 year political career.    “A few years ago I was diagnosed with glaucoma. Right now the glaucoma is somewhat stabilized, making this the right time to spend some time traveling without an extremely demanding work schedule.

One Democrat, Franklin County Board of Legislators Chair Billy Jones, has already entered the race for the Assembly seat.
