Two schools in the Saranac Lake School District were closed and students sent home early on Friday following a threat against a staff member.
The Petrova Elementary School and Saranac Lake Middle School were initially locked down.  Students were then dismissed for the day in a precautionary move by school officials.

The Plattsburgh Press Republican reports that  a threat was received targeting a staff member but not the school.

Police say because the threat included the potential  use of a firearm against the victim,  precautionary measures were taken.

State Police arrested Roger L. Dewey at his home in Santa Clara. The investigation is continuing.
