Former Plattsburgh Mayor Dies

A former mayor of Plattsburgh has died.
Frank Steltzer, who served as Plattsburgh’s mayor from 1966 to 1972 died on January 8th at his home in North Carolina.  

The Plattsburgh Press Republican reports that the former mayor is remembered as an outstanding athlete and community leader who attended St. Lawrence University on a football and basketball scholarship.  He served on the Clinton County Board of Supervisors and defeated entrenched incumbent Jack Tryell to become mayor.

Steltzer was 93.
