Changes to the Plattsburgh City Charter have been overwhelmingly approved.
With 100 percent of the votes counted, 78 percent of city residents who voted Tuesday approved modernizing the 113 year old charter’s language and 81 percent approved staggered terms for the city council and mayor.

Commission co-chair Theresa Bennett: “The language and authorities and different parts of the charter just needed to be updated.  Keeping that in focus helped people to understand that that’s what needed to happen.”

The Charter Commission has now dissolved.
