The YWCA has issued an apology to an upstate New York police department after accusing it of "blatant racism and brutality" over a recent arrest.
The Binghamton Press and Sun-Bulletin reports the YWCA says in its apology to the Binghamton Police Department that it rushed to judgment based on incorrect and incomplete information.
The YWCA accused Binghamton police of brutality and excessive force on social media after a woman was arrested outside its Binghamton location in September.
Mayor Richard David later defended police officers' actions.
He says he accepts the Y's apology in which the organization says it is important to have a good relationship with the city and the police department.
