Capital Region Congressman Paul Tonko announced Wednesday that Albany International Airport will receive $1.1 million from the Federal Aviation Administration for security enhancements.

In a statement, Tonko said the grant will ensure the airport “will have the resources it needs to maintain a safe and professional atmosphere, continuing to meet the demands of our business and leisure travelers, and develop the local economy here in the Capital Region.”

More than 2 million passengers use the airport annually.
