City, County To Receive Millions Before Schenectady Casino Opens

The City of Schenectady will receive millions from its new casino even before the project begins operating.

The Daily Gazette reports the city will get an estimated $3.5 million from the casino operated by Rush Street Gaming.

The company is required to pay a $50 million state licensing fee by March 31st. $5 million of that fee will be split evenly between the city and Schenectady County.

The city and county would receive money from fees on the casino's $200 million mortgage.

Schenectady mayor Gary McCarthy plans to use the money for property tax relief.
