The Frances Young Tang Teaching Museum and Art Gallery at Skidmore College has received a $100,000 award to kick-start a fundraising campaign.

The Tang was awarded the challenge grant from the Ellsworth Kelly Foundation.

Ian Berry, museum director, said Kelly, a recognized painter in New York's Hudson Valley, is a "critically influential artist" and that the award is critical as the museum grows its collection.

The fundraising effort by the museum will support an endowment to care for its collection of more than 7,000 objects.

Director Jack Shear said the foundation was pleased to support the Tang for "students, scholars, and the public for generations to come.”
