The Norman Rockwell Museum in Stockbridge, Massachusetts is furloughing employees and instituting pay cuts to sustain itself through the COVID-19 pandemic.
42 of the museum’s 65 staff members have been furloughed, with the remaining employees taking salary reductions and moving to part-time. Director and CEO Laurie Norton Moffatt says the move is required despite the fact that the museum applied for stimulus payroll protection program funds.
“It’s unclear when those funds are going to become available, not just to our museum, but to all the small business who have applied and are waiting for support in keeping their employees on,” she told WAMC.
Moffat says furloughed employees enrolled in health care through the Norman Rockwell Museum will continue to receive full benefits. The museum closed its doors March 13th.
