Hampshire College has been reaccredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education.

After a year of controversial survival plans and changes in leadership, the financially faltering college cleared a major hurdle by receiving another two years of accreditation on Friday. President Ed Wingenbach said it was a confirmation of work Hampshire undertook starting this summer.

“We have brought our expenses in line with our predictable sources of revenue once we have a full enrollment," the president told WAMC. "And that’s been a key issue for Hampshire, getting cost in alignment with revenue.”

He also credited a clear plan to return to full enrollment after Hampshire did not take a fall class in 2019, as well as a $60 million fundraising plan starting December 3rd.
