Former Vermont governor Jim Douglas has ended his run as Middlebury’s Town Meeting Day moderator.
Douglas says  after 33 years, it is time to give someone else a chance at running the meeting.  “It seems to me that a third of a century is about enough and that perhaps somebody else ought to have an opportunity. So this is my swan song.”

Douglas says the most memorable town meeting he moderated was in 2003 after he was elected governor.

Moderators are responsible for overseeing Town Meeting Day gatherings across the state.
