Vermont Republican Governor Phil Scott will be facing a primary race in his run for re-election.
The campaign of the one-term governor says he filed the required petitions Thursday with the office of the Secretary of State to be on the August primary ballot.

Scott says there is more to do as governor.

Scott will be facing a primary challenge from Republican Keith Stern of Springfield.

Also Thursday, environmentalist James Ehlers and former utility executive Christine Hallquist filed petitions to appear on the August Democratic gubernatorial primary ballot.

Independent U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders, who has also filed to run as an independent in the November election, is facing a challenge for the Democratic Senate nomination.

Democratic U.S. Representative Peter Welch also faces a primary challenge.
