Massachusetts State Representative Geoff Diehl claimed the state Republican Party’s endorsement for U.S. Senate at Saturday’s GOP convention in Worcester. Diehl is looking to take on Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren in November.

Diehl, a four-term state representative from Plymouth, won the GOP endorsement with 55 percent of the vote on a second ballot.

“We want a senator who will fight to secure our borders," said Diehl. "We want a senator who will fight for the taxpayers. And we want a senator who will put Massachusetts first and move our state forward.”

Diehl’s main Republican rivals – Beth Lindstrom and John Kingston – secured enough votes to make it to the September 4th primary ballot.
