After 10 months of fact-finding, an ad hoc committee finds residents in the city of Springfield, Massachusetts to be largely satisfied with the police department.
The Springfield City Council Police-Community Relations Committee’s report points to areas of concern about communication between the department and residents.

City Council President Orlando Ramos is expected to ask the 15-member committee to continue its work in 2018.
Mayor Domenic Sarno issued a statement thanking the committee for its report. Sarno, who did not assign a representative to the committee, did not comment on whether he would implement any of the recommendations.
