Congressman Richard Neal, a Democrat from the first House District, will hold a town hall in Pittsfield Friday. Neal faced some criticism this year from some Western Massachusetts residents and editorial pages who claimed Neal didn’t visit rural areas of the region often enough. WAMC’s Berkshire Bureau Chief JD Allen sat down with Richard Brown, of the Sheffield Democratic Town Committee, and Susie Kaufman – both Democratic activists who helped make the town hall happen.

Neal, the dean of the Massachusetts House delegation, has represented the Berkshires since the latest round of redistricting. Neal says he has held formal appearances in the Berkshires in January and April, and has made numerous visits to the Berkshires and the Pioneer Valley this year.

The town hall is at 5:30 p.m. Friday at Berkshire Community College.
