The Learning Through Arts Programming at IS183 Art School of the Berkshires is marking its 10th anniversary.

Lucie Castaldo was a student at IS183’s summer camp in the 90s. Now, as the Interim Executive Director, Castaldo says programs like Learning Through Arts bring culture and creativity into the school environment.

“It runs parallel with what they do during the school day but it also enhances what they do. So they get to try out a lot of different projects and kind of just get their hands messy and experiment through art, which is not something they always get to do during the school day,” Castaldo.

After 12 years, IS183’s Executive Director Hope Sullivan stepped down in August to head the Spruce Peak Performing Arts Center Foundation in Stowe, Vermont.

The school board expects the Learning Through Arts program to continue this fall while it searches for a permanent executive director.
