U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal, a Democrat from Connecticut, has introduced a bill to restore consumer control over sensitive personal information.

Blumenthal, alongside fellow Democrat Tom Udall from New Mexico, says the bill is in response to White House efforts to reduce broadband privacy rules.

They say the MY DATA Act will protect consumers from signing away their privacy rights.

It would give authority to the Federal Trade Commission to restore consumer control.
