The Pittsfield City Council continues to meet this week to review Mayor Linda Tyer’s first budget.Mayor Tyer’s $151 million budget is a $6 million increase over the plan set by her predecessor Dan Bianchi. Councilors approved Tyer’s proposals for the police and fire departments including money for additional officers in the wake of recent shootings in the city.

“I believe strongly that we put forward a sound budget that’s reasonable and continues to provide for the types of services that the people of Pittsfield expect and deserve,” said Tyer.

The council’s final budget review session is scheduled for 6 o’clock Thursday at Pittsfield City Hall.
