General Electric is moving its world headquarters from Fairfield, Connecticut to Boston. With word of a move swirling for months, GE made it official Wednesday, saying Boston was chosen based on talent, long-term costs and quality of life for employees. The $130 billion company complained about corporate tax increases in Connecticut last year. Governor Dannel Malloy says companies come and go, but admitted disappointment on WFSB.

“You win some and you lose some,” Malloy said. “Luckily we’ve won more than we’ve lost, but this hurts.”

GE has about 800 workers in Fairfield. Employees will move to a temporary location in Boston this summer with a full move completed by 2018.
