A newly appointed business leader is the first in Berkshire County to sign onto a statewide campaign aimed at ending the stigma of mental illness in the workplace.Previously executive vice president, John Bissell took over Greylock Federal Credit Union as CEO in October. Representing 257 employees, Bissell has signed onto the anti-stigma campaign run by the Massachusetts chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness or NAMI.

“Because many people are uncomfortable talking openly about those challenges I think that makes the struggle with mental illness even tougher,” Bissell said. “So I signed onto this campaign so that our company, Greylock, could be part of the solution.”

Through the initiative, NAMI will offer training to participating companies. CEOs Against Stigma is working to sign 250 executives to the campaign and reach half a million employees.
