A Williamstown man has been sentenced to three years probation for illegally carrying a gun on the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts campus last year.Christopher LaFrance pleaded guilty in Berkshire Superior Court Wednesday to carrying a firearm on school grounds, carrying a firearm while intoxicated, resisting arrest, disturbing the peace and 21 counts of possession of a large capacity feeding device.

The charges stem from an October 2014 incident during which the 25-year-old was asked to leave a classroom for behaving erratically. According to The Berkshire Eagle, campus police used pepper spray to subdue LaFrance after he refused to leave. Officers found LaFrance had a loaded .40-caliber pistol.

Court documents show that LaFrance is a veteran who served a nine-month tour in Iraq. His probation requires him to stay away from MCLA, refrain from drug use and comply with counseling.
