The Clark Art Institute in Williamstown, Massachusetts has a stake in Sunday’s Super Bowl between the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks.The Vince Lombardi Trophy isn’t the only piece of art up for grabs between the Seahawks and the Patriots. The Clark and the Seattle Art Museum are putting two landscape paintings on the line. If the Patriots win, The Clark gets Albert Bierstadt’s 1870 Puget Sound on the Pacific Coast. If they lose, Seattle gets Winslow Homer’s West Point, Prout's Neck from 1900. Richard Rand is The Clark’s senior curator.
“We’re positive that the Patriots are going to win,” Rand said. “So we have to figure out where we’re going to put this big Bierstadt painting. Its eight feet across. So we have a couple of places in mind and we’ll decide after Sunday where it will go.”
The painting will be on loan for three months with all expenses paid by the losing museum.
