Sanders Adds Climate Change Amendment To Keystone Bill

Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders has filed an amendment to the bill approving the Keystone XL Pipeline which would put the Senate on record acknowledging climate change.

Sanders, an opponent of the pipeline, has argued against construction of the pipeline saying it would promote greater exploitation of some of the dirtiest oil on the planet and increases the greenhouse gas emissions that cause global warming. His amendment to the Senate measure approving the pipeline would put members on record that climate change is human caused and a major threat.

“I would hope that the United States Senate goes on record in strongly supporting the overwhelming scientific evidence that climate change is real."
