Northeast Utilities Changing Company Name

The operator of New England’s largest energy delivery company, Northeast Utilities is changing its name to Eversource Energy.Effective February 2nd, 3.6 million electric and natural gas customers will see the name Eversource Energy on their bills instead of Northeast Utilities.

“Next month we will have a more formal rollout,” said Priscilla Ress, spokeswoman for NU subsidiary Western Massachusetts Electric Company. “We will include more information as well as things like what is our sign going to look like? What are our logos going to look like? And get people acquainted with this new name for the company.”

Subsidiaries Connecticut Light and Power, NSTAR Electric and Gas, Public Service Company of New Hampshire, Western Massachusetts Electric and Yankee Gas will adopt the new name.

The company’s New York Stock Exchange ticker symbol will become “ES.”
