It’s Election Day, and once again the question is how many people will go to the polls. With the governor's seat up for grabs and four ballot questions to decide, early voter turnout in Pittsfield, Massachusetts is surprising some.Ward 2A is considered among the worst for voter turnout in Pittsfield, but there was a steady stream of people coming through the gym doors of Morningside Community School. Alan McNabb has been an election volunteer there for seven years.
“Much, much better than the primary,” McNabb said. “Hopefully we’ll hit 10 to 15 percent. I hope it’s better than that, but that’s realistic.”
Jeff Turner was one of about 40 people who had cast ballots by 9:30 this morning.
“Somebody’s got to run the country and the state and I want to have a say in who that is and how its run,” said Turner.
Just 73 people voted in Ward 2A during September’s primary. Among other statewide races, Massachusetts voters will pick a new governor and decide on four ballot questions today.
