Deval Patrick will attend his final Democratic State Convention as Massachusetts’ governor Friday in Worcester.

Patrick says he had butterflies during his first convention 10 years ago and is experiencing a different kind of nervousness heading into this year’s in Worcester.

“It’s my opportunity to thank people for the extraordinary effort they put in on my behalf,” Patrick said. “I’m still a relative newcomer to politics. It still humbles me that people set aside what they’re doing and take up your cause.”

Patrick will speak Friday night following a tribute to the two-term governor including remarks from his former Lieutenant Governor Tim Murray. Congressman Jim McGovern and Senators Elizabeth Warren and Ed Markey will also speak. Patrick is not seeking reelection. Five fellow Democrats are vying for his seat.
