Vermont is getting nearly $619,000 in grants to enroll the uninsured in new health coverage options made available by the Affordable Care Act.

The grants are going to eight health centers operating 62 sites.

In Vermont, health centers served 130,659 patients last year, 10 percent of whom were uninsured. With these funds, the centers expect to hire 11 additional workers, who will assist nearly 18,000 Vermont residents with enrollment into affordable health insurance coverage.

The centers will help consumers understand their coverage options in Vermont's new Health Insurance Marketplace - Vermont Health Connect. They will also help determine eligibility for Medicaid and the Children's Health Insurance Program and enroll them in new affordable health coverage options.
