A hiking destination in the Hudson Valley has been selected as a hot spot in the U.S. to help raise awareness about leaving no trace.

The Colorado-based Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics and its Traveling Trainer team are at Breakneck Ridge in Hudson Highlands State Park in Putnam and Dutchess Counties, teaming up with New York State Parks and the non-profit New York-New Jersey Trail Conference. They’re on hand through Sunday to share information on how to reduce impacts in the outdoors. Breakneck Ridge is considered by many the most popular day-hike destination in North America. On Sunday, November 4, there is a day of service to help mitigate some of the impacts at Breakneck Ridge. It runs from 9 .a.m.-to-2 p.m.
