As part of National Homeless Awareness month, students at a college in the Hudson Valley will take part in a “sleep out.”

Marist College students aim to call attention to the issue through an overnight event Friday on the campus green. Students will hear a talk about homelessness, and spend the night outside. The Poughkeepsie-based college’s School of Social and Behavioral Sciences and the Criminal Justice Honor Society organized the event. Students who participate will offer donations to River Haven, a project of the Poughkeepsie-based nonprofit, Hudson River Housing. River Haven is a temporary housing program designed to address the immediate needs of runaway, homeless and other at-risk youth.
