A New York woman accused of killing her fiancée during a kayak outing is due in court Wednesday afternoon for a bail hearing.

Angelika Graswald has been jailed without bail since she was charged on April 30 with second-degree murder in the death of 46-year-old Vincent Viafore. Orange County prosecutors allege the 35-year-old Poughkeepsie woman killed Viafore, also of Poughkeepsie, and falsely reported she was unable to save him after he had capsized in stormy waters on the evening of April 19. Police say they believe the crime happened on Bannerman Island. Viafore's body has not been found. Graswald's lawyers are asking for bail in the absence of an indictment. Prosecutors, who have not released details on why or how they believe Viafore was killed, will have to make a case for holding her during a hearing Wednesday afternoon.
